Job description

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community?

Join our dedicated team at Community Progress Council, Inc. as a WIC Program Assistant! We are looking for a dynamic, friendly, and professional individual to provide essential services to WIC participants within York City, and potential assignments to other York County clinics.

This full-time, year-round, benefit-eligible position offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Beyond the hourly wage, CPC offers paid time off, paid holidays, medical, dental and vision insurance, short term disability, life insurance and a 401k retirement plan. Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Services: Determine eligibility of applicants by verifying identity, address, income, and voter information.
  • Appointment Management: Check clients in for their appointments, answer phone calls, and schedule client appointments.
  • Referrals: Make referrals to other health and social services.
  • Travel: Serve primarily in York City, with potential assignments to other York County clinics.
  • Commit to the vision and mission of Community Progress Council.
  • Greet clients and assign appointments to the appropriate team members.
  • Answer phones and schedule participant appointments.
  • Provide basic information on nutrition and health services.
  • Participate in meetings and continuing education programs.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements for nutrition education services.
  • Promote and support breastfeeding among WIC participants.
  • Perform anthropometric and hematological measurements after training.
  • Comply with the Motor Voter Act.
  • Travel to satellite clinics and perform Program Assistant responsibilities.
  • Pack/unpack supplies for travel to and from satellite clinics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required. Preference for candidates with clinical experience or a college course in nutrition.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks, physical, and TB test.
  • Previous work experience with a WIC program is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions in English. Bilingual Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Arabic is highly desired.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to satellite clinics to ensure regular and timely attendance.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn WIC-related programs.

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting for long periods, frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, and walking.
  • Lifting up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Moderate to high noise levels, temperature fluctuations, long narrow halls, busy crowded areas.
  • Safe handling of toxic or caustic chemicals with gloves.
  • Outdoor weather conditions during travel.
  • Exposure to blood and bloodborne pathogens.
