Job summary

State of Florida is seeking a WIC Program Specialist to determine eligibility, enroll clients, and manage WIC certifications in Port Charlotte, FL. The role includes data entry, EBT support, and coordination with nutrition staff to educate clients on nutrition and breastfeeding.

The position requires knowledge of WIC policies, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations. Candidates will participate in training, meet deadlines, and engage in community referrals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Statutes and Rules and Regulations pertaining to the WIC program.
• Knowledge of office procedures and business formats.
• Knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar.
• Knowledge of data collection methods.
• Ability to provide nutrition education for individuals and groups.
• Ability to operate general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Determines eligibility and enrolls clients in the WIC Program per policy and procedures.
• Completes WIC certification duties including financial eligibility assessment and electronic records.
• Issues WIC IDs, schedules appointments, and assists with EBT card inventories.
• Obtains anthropometric measurements and hemoglobin testing as required by state rules.
• Assists with nutrition education activities and referral to community resources.
• Attends staff meetings and professional development activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
