Job summary

Cecil County Health Department seeks a paraprofessional to support the WIC program by determining eligibility and conducting basic health and nutrition assessments. You will provide nutrition and breastfeeding education and assist with program referrals and benefit distribution.

You will explain program policy, maintain confidential records, and help keep the clinic organized and welcoming for clients.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: One year of experience in health or human service delivery, performing tasks such as program eligibility determination, health screening, client referral services, or nutrition education.
• Notes: Candidates may substitute 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience; military service substitutions are allowed on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Determine program eligibility and conduct basic health and nutrition assessments.
• Provide basic nutrition and breastfeeding education and make program referrals.
• Explain program policy and distribute supplemental food benefits; maintain confidentiality and organized records.
