Job summary

The Forsyth County Department of Public Health is seeking a Nutritionist to support the WIC program, focusing on nutrition education and services for women, infants, and children. The role includes assessing dietary histories, determining food packages, and counseling participants.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field, at least one year of nutrition experience, and strong communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, public health nutrition, or dietetics; 1 year nutrition work experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Completion of an ADA approved dietetic internship or Master’s degree with ADA eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides nutrition counseling and education to participants in the WIC Program.
• Completes nutrition assessments by analyzing data from interviews and medical records.
• Develops care plans based on information collected and clinical nutrition knowledge.
• Provides diet instructions using educational aids such as pamphlets and posters.
• Charts subjective and objective data, assessments and plans in the medical record.
• Determines medical eligibility for the WIC program using established guidelines.
• Provides nutrition consultation and education sessions to health care professionals.
• Performs related work as required.
