Public Health - Seattle & King County is seeking a Nutrition Assistant to deliver WIC services at our North Public Health Center. You will assess eligibility, provide nutrition education, and support with group and individual sessions while collaborating with RD, nurses and community partners.

This role involves outreach, documentation in Cascades, and ongoing training to promote healthy choices in diverse communities. Strong equity and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to lift and lower a child up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to complete Washington State WIC paraprofessional competencies within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to obtain Washington State MA-Registered or Phlebotomist certification within 30 days of hire to perform testing.
• Ability to obtain a Washington State food worker card.
• Must have current BLS for Healthcare Providers with AED before hire.
• Ability to apply nutrition knowledge with diverse clients to support positive changes.
• Knowledge of basic cooking and food demonstration techniques.
• Ability to listen without judgment and work with varied perspectives.
• Strong problem solving, priority setting, and organizational abilities.
• Commitment to equity and racial justice principles.

Responsabilités

• Gather and assess information to determine health and nutrition risk factors and program eligibility.
• Provide group and individual nutrition education, including breastfeeding support.
• Obtain and document anthropometric measurements as part of WIC services.
• Respond to inquiries by screening, scheduling, and interviewing clients.
• Document services and manage appointments in Cascades to support WIC.
• Offer direct customer service, issue WIC benefits, and educate on their use.
• Conduct WIC outreach and complete end-of-day reports and referrals.
• Participate in WIC committees and breastfeeding promotion activities.
• Order and maintain program supplies and educational materials.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and complete annual WIC training.
