Job summary

County of Sacramento is seeking a Nutrition Assistant to educate and assist WIC participants under supervision. You will interview women, infants and children to determine eligibility and provide counseling, referrals and information on nutrition and healthy eating.

The role requires knowledge of nutrition, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations. A high school diploma or GED plus related experience or coursework is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of full-time experience in a community nutrition/public aid program or healthcare facility, or completion of 12 semester credits in nutrition/related fields.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition education and assistance to WIC participants.
• Interview and/or assess women, infants and children for WIC eligibility.
• Counsel and refer participants to community resources and services.
• Maintain accurate records and follow program procedures.
