Job summary

The Resource Connection of Amador and Calaveras Counties invites you to join our team as a Degreed Nutritionist for the WIC program in Amador and Calaveras counties. This is a part-time on-site role with the potential for growth in community nutrition.

You will conduct nutrition assessments, counseling, and education for WIC participants, support the WIC Nutrition Assistants, and collaborate with a dedicated team focused on improving community health through nutrition education and breastfeeding

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a closely related field.
• Minimum competencies as specified by the California State Department of Health Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC.
• One-year experience in a community health care services setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nutrition education and counseling to WIC participants.
• Assist WIC Nutrition Assistants and collaborate with the Breastfeeding Coordinator.
• Participate in special projects and WIC outreach activities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Conducting nutrition assessments, counseling, and education for WIC participants in Amador and Calaveras counties.
• Providing crucial support to WIC Nutrition Assistants.
• Collaborating with a diverse and dedicated team committed to community health.

Key Responsibilities

• Nutrition Education and Training: Engage with individuals or groups using the Participant Centered Education (PCE) approach. Support the Breastfeeding Coordinator in planning and conducting nutrition education and breastfeeding contacts.
• Special Projects and Outreach: Contribute to special projects, such as production of nutrition education materials, and participate in WIC-related consortia or task forces. Participate in WIC Outreach activities.

• Temporary Part-time position: 4 days per week / 32 hours / 8:30 am to 5 pm (non-remote).
