Job summary

State of Hawai'i is seeking a Nutrition Assistant to support Public Health Nutritionists in delivering nutrition services to clients at Maui clinics. The role includes education, prescribing supplemental foods, and determining participant eligibility in a fast-paced setting.

The position is full-time, temporary civil service, located on Maui, with benefits for state employees. Eligible candidates should meet minimum qualification requirements and pass a comprehensive review if selected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, comprehend and apply directions.
• One year of experience dealing with people and gathering information.
• 30 credit hours including behavioral science may substitute for General Experience.
• Bachelor's degree in nutrition may substitute for all requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition-related services to low-risk clients under the guidance of Public Health Nutritionists.
• Prescribe supplemental foods and provide education to participants.
• Determine participant eligibility and work at clinics or other sites.
