Job summary

Macoupin County Public Health Department seeks a WIC Registered Nurse to plan, coordinate, and direct the WIC nutrition program under MCPHD policies. The role requires RN licensure, ability to administer immunizations, and compliance with health regulations.

Responsibilities include directing WIC staff, engaging with public health partners, and granting staff with necessary training to meet program goals. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position in Illinois.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree with Registered Nurse licensure.
  • WIC Qualified Health Professionals (CHP) qualifications expected.
  • Immunizations administration capability required.
  • Familiarity with Illinois LEAD program recommended.
  • HIPAA rules knowledge and compliance expected.

  • Directs and coordinates activities of assigned WIC staff.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct WIC nutrition program activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with schools, public, and health community partners.
  • Perform other duties consistent with MCPHD policies.

Job description

Position type: Full-Time
Pay/Salary: $32.00 - $36.00/hour

  • Reports to: Clinical Director
  • Full-time with benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance,Pension, Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and Personal Time
  • Non-Union Position
  • Pay Scale: $32 - $36/hour compensation based on experience and qualifications

Under the direct supervision of the MCPHD Administrator, the WIC Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and carrying out all activities involved in the WIC nutrition program in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and policies.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Minimum requirement High School Diploma or GED
  • A bachelor’s degree with following specialties: Registered Nurse
  • Able to obtain a minimum qualification of a WIC Qualified Health Professionals (CHP) (see Part 1, section 8.1. Rose of Certifying Health Professional and 8.1.A CHP qualifications)
  • Able to administer immunizations
  • Understand and knowledge of the Illinois LEAD program
  • Facilitate work output and interpret agency policies to staff
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, schools, community leaders, professional organizations, government officials, and the medical community available to the WIC populations
  • Familiarity with the medical-legal aspects of public health nursing
  • Grant writing skills
  • Evaluation and quality enhancement skills for the WIC Program
  • Ability to be mobile without any limitations or restrictions
  • Must be up-to-date on all immunizations and vaccinations
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Must have a valid government-issued photo ID
