The City of Amarillo is seeking a Dietitian I (part time/full time) to deliver medical nutrition therapy to high-risk WIC clients. You will consult with physicians, determine formulas, and coordinate delivery of products, while teaching staff and developing nutrition materials.

Under WIC Director supervision, you’ll perform follow-up consultations, conduct trainings, and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines. Strong communication and data entry skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or related field with at least 1 year of clinical/community dietetics experience preferred.
• Registered Dietitian with the American Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License and reliable vehicle with current insurance are required.

Responsabilités

• Determines eligibility for WIC benefits based on nutritional/medical risk factors.
• Assesses income and residency eligibility for WIC benefits.
• Obtains and assesses diet recalls for nutritional deficiencies.
• Measures height and weight for growth charts and performs calculations.
• Performs hematocrit/hemoglobin tests per policy.
• Provides individualized counseling based on risk and anthropometric data.
• Consults with physicians on medical nutrition therapy.
• Writes diet prescriptions for food packages per guidelines.
• Develops nutritional in-services and teaching materials.
