Job description

Employment Type: Full-Time | PST Time Zone

Type of contract: Independent contractor

Work from any corner of the world and be a part of the #remoteworkrevolution!

Scope of the Role:

We are looking for a Wholesale Sales Analyst to own the reporting, analytics, and forecasting infrastructure behind a growing wholesale business.

This is not a general data analyst role. You need hands-on experience working with wholesale retail accounts, POS data, sell-through, inventory, and replenishment. You should understand how retailer data flows from accounts to vendors and how that data translates into inventory and sales decisions.

You will build and maintain account-level reporting, analyze retail performance, develop bottoms-up forecasts, and turn complex data into clear recommendations for Sales, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations.

Experience with SPS Commerce Analytics is required. The ideal candidate has used it directly to build and maintain reporting rather than simply consuming reports created by someone else.

Key Responsibilities:
i. Wholesale Reporting & Analytics
  • Build and maintain account-level sell-through dashboards and performance scorecards.
  • Use SPS Commerce Analytics and retail data sources to consolidate and analyze omnichannel performance.
  • Analyze POS data by retailer, SKU, category, and time period to identify trends and risks.
  • Monitor weeks of supply, in-stock rates, sell-through, inventory levels, and inventory health across wholesale accounts.
  • Establish reliable reporting cadences and ensure reports are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Identify data discrepancies, investigate their root cause, and resolve issues before they impact business decisions.
ii. Forecasting & Inventory Planning
  • Build bottoms-up forecasting models using POS data, historical performance, seasonality, and inventory trends.
  • Develop weekly inventory build and replenishment recommendations.
  • Identify potential overstock, understock, and in-stock risks before they become material issues.
  • Partner with the Wholesale Demand Planner to align account-level forecasts with supply and operations planning.
  • Track forecast performance and continuously improve forecasting accuracy.
iii. Business Insights & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Translate account-level data into clear recommendations for Sales, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sell-through, inventory productivity, and wholesale revenue.
  • Lead or support quarterly business reviews and present account performance to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support new retailer launches by establishing reporting, POS analysis, and forecasting processes.
  • Act as the analytical owner for wholesale reporting rather than waiting for others to define what needs to be analyzed.
What We’re Looking For:
Must Have Experience:
  • 3+ years of dedicated experience in wholesale analytics, retail planning, or channel analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with SPS Commerce Analytics or a highly comparable retail data / EDI platform.
  • Direct experience analyzing retailer POS data at the account level.
  • Proven ownership of sell-through reporting and retail performance dashboards.
  • Hands-on experience with weeks-of-supply / inventory coverage modeling.
  • Experience building bottoms-up forecasting models using POS data, seasonality, and historical trends.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including complex formulas, structured models, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Experience translating analytical findings into actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale retail operations, including POS data flows, replenishment, inventory planning, and retailer/vendor relationships.
  • Ability to work independently, manage recurring reporting deadlines, and operate with minimal supervision.
Strongly Preferred:
  • Experience within beauty, CPG, consumer goods, fashion, or another retail-driven category.
  • Experience supporting retailers such as Ulta, Target, Walmart, Sephora, Nordstrom, or comparable mass/specialty retailers.
  • Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience working with retail EDI systems and multiple retailer data feeds.
  • Experience presenting account performance in quarterly business reviews.
Required Tech Stack:
  • SPS Commerce Analytics
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets
  • Retail EDI systems

Bonus: Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI tools

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you will be expected to:

  • Establish reliable, scalable wholesale reporting across key accounts.
  • Maintain 90%+ on-time delivery of recurring account reporting.
  • Improve forecasting accuracy by 15%+.
  • Establish a consistent weekly inventory build and replenishment recommendation process.
  • Surface actionable inventory and revenue opportunities through account-level analysis.
  • Become a trusted analytical partner to Sales, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations.
