Job summary

Carter Lumber seeks a Whole House Designer to design roof trusses, wall panels, and EWP from customer blueprints, producing accurate drawings for fabrication. You will finalize designs for production and evaluate them against standards.

Role requires MiTek experience and truss software familiarity, plus strong math skills and ability to read architectural/structural plans. Proficiency in MS Office is essential. This is full-time with growth opportunities within Carter Lumber.

Qualifications

• MiTek experience required; SE trained preferred.
• Knowledgeable in the basic aspects of construction.
• Previous experience using truss software.
• High level of knowledge in the application of trusses, wall panels, and EWP
• Competency in basic mathematics, geometry and trigonometry
• Knowledgeable in reading architectural and structural plans
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and problem solve
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook

Responsibilities

• Design roof trusses, wall panels, and EWP floor design illustrations from blueprints to produce working drawings for fabrication.
• Completes and finalizes designs for production and assembly.
• Evaluates designs to ensure design standards are met.
• Reviews and analyzes specifications, blueprints, engineered drawings to determine factors affecting design of wall, truss and engineered wood components.
• Communicates with production teams, customers and sales to ensure designs are accurate throughout the process; assists sales in responding to questions from customers.

A Carter Lumber Whole House Designer is responsible for designing roof andtrusses, wall panels, and EWP for quoting and production. Ensures drawings are produced accurately and timely based off of blueprints provided by customers. Requires the knowledge of commonly used framing concepts and practices within the construction industry. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.
