Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a design engineer to create truss placement diagrams and engineered drawings for submittals and production. You will communicate with internal and external customers by phone and email to discuss designs, requests for information, and schedules.

Drawings must be accurate and produced on time, and designs are optimized after approval for production. MiTek software will be used daily to support collaboration and accuracy.

Qualifications

• MiTek software experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of product applications for design.
• Ability to read and understand architectural and structural plans.
• Mathematical proficiency in geometry and trigonometry.
• Effective communication and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Create truss placement diagrams and engineered drawings for submittals and production.
• Communicate designs and schedules with internal and external customers by phone and email.
• Ensure blueprint drawings are accurate and produced on time.
• Optimize designs after approval and release for production.

Description:

In this role, you will beresponsible forcreating truss placement diagrams and engineered drawings for both submittals and production.You will communicate via phone and email with internal and external customers regarding designs, requests for information, schedules, etc. You will ensure customer blueprint drawings are produced accurately and in a timely manner. When the design has been approved, it will need to be optimized and then released for production. The ideal environment is one where our designers can grow and contribute to the strength of the team by sharing knowledge and assisting with workloads when necessary. These responsibilities will be performed within the MiTek software platform.

Requirements:

• Previous experience using MiTek softwareis a must
• High level of knowledge in the application of the products being designed
• Competency in basic mathematics, geometry and trigonometry
• Must be able to read and understand architectural and structural plans
• Strong communication skills for discussing designs and schedule
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
• This position offers the choice of either remote work or working from our Newton Falls, Ohio office.
