Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a Whey Operator to assist the Whey Evaporator and Dryer Operator in the whey processing operation. The role involves operating and cleaning AMVR evaporator, TFD and MSD spray dryers, performing lab work, and ensuring product quality and regulatory compliance.

The position pays $26.80–$27.35 per hour, with offers based on skills, experience, and internal equity for the New York area. Safety policies and our Safe Quality Food program guide daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Adapt to change quickly.
• Understand the basic operation of evaporator and dryer and be capable of making process adjustments.
• Basic computer skills required.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.
• Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices.
• Basic math skills to adjust process changes.
• SAP experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and clean the AMVR Evaporator in automatic and manual modes.
• Operate and clean the TFD and MSD spray dryers.
• Perform lab work as required.
• Recognize deficiencies in product.
• Operate equipment in preparation for cream shipments.
• Troubleshoot and solve any productions problem during operation.
• Keep all records accurate and up to date.
• Keep equipment and plant in condition that will meet all regulatory agency requirements.
• All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
• All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
