Job summary

Community LIFE Wilkinsburg is seeking a Wheelchair Van Driver (Casual) to transport older adults to the day center, residences, and appointments, and to deliver medical equipment as requested.

Schedule is casual with 16 daytime hours minimum per month, Monday–Friday, not weekends. Must have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid PA driver’s license, and be able to pass a DOT physical. Five years of driving experience is required.

• Transport older adults to the day center, residence, appointments, and activities

• Plan and organize daily routes in coordination with Transportation Supervisor
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the van and equipment

About this position

Locations : Wilkinsburg & Homestead, PA

Schedule: CASUAL HOURS, 16 daytime hours minimum a month. Hours are scheduled during Mon-Friday, not weekends. This position is not full time.

Salary: $16.50- $18 per hour, based on experience

Su mmary of Job Duties: The Van Driver is primarily responsible for transporting older adults to and from the day center and their residence, to outside appointments and activities, delivering medical equipment, etc., as requested by the Transportation Supervisor.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience:

• Previous transportation, medical equipment and/or supply experience including experience transporting individuals with special mobility needs.
• Prior experience in the geriatric field helpful.
• Five years of driving experience required

Required Certifications/Licensure:

• Valid PA Driver's License with a clean driving record
• Must be able to pass DOT physical

Required Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

• Knowledge of the area roads in the program area.
• Ability to read a road map.
• Ability to deal professionally and diplomatically with participants and other staff.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Be mentally alert and have the ability to effectively plan and organize assignments in the most efficient manner.
• Must be flexible, adaptable and able to function in stressful situations.

Please Note: Candidates must be able to pass a DOT physical. In addition, Community LIFE will randomly drug and alcohol-test employees in Van Driver and Escort positions for compliance with its drug and alcohol-free workplace policy on a quarterly basis.
