Job summary

Community LIFE in Wilkinsburg, PA is seeking a casual Wheelchair Van Driver to transport older adults to the day center, appointments, and activities. The role is not full-time and requires a PA driver’s license, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to pass a DOT physical.

Candidates with experience in geriatric transport and mobility aid distribution are preferred. DOT testing is conducted quarterly, and driving duties may include routes to Wilkinsburg and Homestead.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $16.50 To $18.00 Hourly

Locations : Wilkinsburg & Homestead, PA

Schedule: CASUAL HOURS, 16 daytime hours minimum a month. Hours are scheduled during Mon-Friday, not weekends. This position is not full time.

Salary:$16.50- $18 per hour, based on experience

Su mmary of Job Duties: The Van Driver is primarily responsible for transporting older adults to and from the day center and their residence, to outside appointments and activities, delivering medical equipment, etc., as requested by the Transportation Supervisor.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience:

• Previous transportation, medical equipment and/or supply experience including experience transporting individuals with special mobility needs.
• Prior experience in the geriatric field helpful.
• Five years of driving experience required

Required Certifications/Licensure:

• Valid PA Driver's License with a clean driving record
• Must be able to pass DOT physical

Required Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

• Knowledge of the area roads in the program area.
• Ability to read a road map.
• Ability to deal professionally and diplomatically with participants and other staff.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Be mentally alert and have the ability to effectively plan and organize assignments in the most efficient manner.
• Must be flexible, adaptable and able to function in stressful situations.

Please Note: Candidates must be able to pass a DOT physical. In addition, Community LIFE will randomly drug and alcohol-test employees in Van Driver and Escort positions for compliance with its drug and alcohol-free workplace policy on a quarterly basis.
