Job summary

Community LIFE in Homestead, PA is seeking a Wheelchair Van Driver to transport older adults to the day center, their homes, appointments, and community activities. The role requires safe operation, punctuality, and compassionate handling of participants.

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 6:45 am to 4:00 pm; pay range $16.50–$18 per hour based on experience; must pass DOT physical and maintain a clean PA driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of driving experience required.
• Experience transporting individuals with mobility needs preferred.
• Knowledge of program area roads.
• Must pass DOT physical and have a clean PA driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Transport older adults to the day center, home, appointments and activities.
• Deliver medical equipment as required.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and accurate vehicle logs.
• Provide courteous, responsible and punctual transportation services to participants.

About this position

Locations : Homestead

Schedule: Full Time, Mon- Fri 6:45 am -4pm

Salary: $16.50- $18 per hour, based on experience

Summary of Job Duties:

The Van Driver is primarily responsible for transporting older adults to and from the day center and their residence, to outside appointments and activities, delivering medical equipment, etc.

Required Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience:

• Previous passenger transportation experience, including experience transporting individuals with special mobility needs or equivalent.
• Prior experience in the geriatric field helpful.
• Five years of driving experience required

Required Certifications/Licensure:

• Valid PA Driver's License with a clean driving record for the past 2 years
• Must be able to pass DOT physical

Required Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

• Knowledge of the area roads in the program area.
• Ability to read a road map.
• Ability to deal professionally and diplomatically with participants and other staff.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Be mentally alert and have the ability to effectively plan and organize assignments in the most efficient manner.
• Must be flexible, adaptable and able to function in stressful situations.

Please Note:

Candidates must be able to pass a DOT physical. In addition, Community LIFE will randomly drug and alcohol-test employees in Van Driver and Escort positions for compliance with its drug and alcohol-free workplace policy on a quarterly basis.
