Job description

SUMMARY

Perform various prescribed duties to receive, transport, store, issue and maintain inventory control of forgings for manufacturing, warehouse operations and assembling of unions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Quality System:

• Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping, and quality of work with support of ISO procedures and standards.
• Utilize individually and/or further the use of total quality concepts, tools, and techniques to support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which the position participates with a positive “Can Do” attitude.

General:

• Work from written and verbal instructions, prescribed procedures to reclaim metal chips, load, and unload trucks.
• Maintain inside and outside storage areas, ensure no chips or coolants enter outside parking lots.
• Use forklift to move, lift, carry supplies, materials, and tote boxes.
• Refer questionable conditions to supervisor or appropriate personnel.
• Support, encourage and maintain a positive team working atmosphere throughout the company.
• Perform other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions and changes.

Technical:

• Use forklift to load chips into crusher, watch operations and jams and separate various scrap metals into containers for weighing.
• Operate forklift vehicles, weight scales, chip crusher and use manual material handling equipment and hand or power tools.
• Segregate, prepare, document, and properly store all chip materials for recycling pickups.
• Load forgings into wheelabrator, set speed and timing, inspect for cracks, scales, and proper finish.
• Maintain proper identification for wheelabrated totes and deliver to proper areas for storage and/or manufacturing.
• Clean screens, add shot, remove clogs and debris as needed for wheelabrating.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Requires written and verbal presentation skills and the ability to multi-task and interface with personnel and customers at various levels of the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
