Role Description

The Whatnot Host is a full-time, on-site role based in Lancaster, PA, responsible for hosting live sales events on the Whatnot platform to promote and sell Chesapeake Crab Connection products. The host will prepare and present products on camera, explain offerings and specials, and engage with viewers in real time to answer questions and build excitement. Day-to-day tasks include setting up the physical display and streaming equipment, managing inventory featured in live shows, and coordinating with the sales and fulfillment teams to ensure accurate order processing. The Whatnot Host will develop show themes, highlight promotions, and maintain brand voice and product knowledge during broadcasts. This role also involves collecting feedback from viewers, suggesting improvements to future shows, and supporting in-person customer interactions at the Lancaster location as needed.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear on-camera speaking ability and active listening.
• Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service skills to handle inquiries, resolve issues, and create a welcoming viewer experience.
• Candidates should possess Training and coaching skills to help team members understand platform use, show flow, and product presentation.
• Candidates should possess Food & Beverage knowledge, particularly an interest in or familiarity with seafood products and safe handling practices.
• Candidates should possess Sales skills, including upselling, closing sales during live shows, and meeting revenue targets.
• Comfort with live streaming platforms, basic audio/video setup, and social media engagement is beneficial.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, manage a fast-paced environment, and work evenings or weekends as needed for live shows.
• Previous experience in retail, hospitality, or online selling is a plus; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Compensation: Guaranteed base of $40,000/year (four 10-hour show days/week, 52 weeks)

5% commission on GMV generated during your shows — completely uncapped
