Job summary

AltaGas Ltd. is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join the Next Gen Delivery team and drive digital transformation through data analytics, intelligent automation, and AI.

You will work across business and technical teams to translate needs into measurable outcomes and manage requirements and backlogs with Product Owners and delivery teams using Azure DevOps. The role emphasizes collaboration, alignment of priorities, and delivering value across initiatives in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of Business Analyst experience.
• Experience supporting data, analytics, automation, AI, software, or application development initiatives.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) and managing backlogs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps or similar delivery tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, process mapping, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to understand needs and identify opportunities for analytics, automation, AI, and process improvement.
• Gather and document requirements, use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and future-state processes for technology and transformation initiatives.
• Facilitate workshops to align business needs, priorities, and solution requirements.
• Own and refine requirements and backlogs for delivery areas with Product Owners and delivery teams.
• Use Azure DevOps or similar tools to manage user stories, backlog refinement, sequencing, and sprint readiness.
• Collaborate with technology teams to assess feasibility, integration needs, and requirements.
• Develop business cases for automation and AI, defining expected value (hours saved, new capabilities, or processes improved).
• Support project financial tracking, including capital vs O&M/expense costs and accruals.

Join AltaGas’ Next Gen Delivery team and help drive digital transformation through data analytics, intelligent automation, and AI. We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst who can connect business needs with technology solutions, identify opportunities to improve processes, and help turn ideas into measurable business outcomes.

This is a collaborative, hands-on role for an experienced Business Analyst who is comfortable working across business and technical teams and navigating multiple initiatives in a fast-moving environment.

You Will

• Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, analyze processes and data, and identify opportunities for analytics, automation, AI, and process improvement.


• Gather and document requirements, use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and future-state processes for technology and transformation initiatives.


• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to align business needs, priorities, expected value, and solution requirements.


• Own and refine requirements and backlogs for assigned delivery areas, partnering with Product Owners and delivery teams to ensure work is ready for development.


• Use Azure DevOps or similar tools to manage user stories, backlog refinement, sequencing, and sprint readiness.


• Collaborate with technology teams to assess feasibility, integration needs, and implementation requirements.


• Develop business cases for automation and AI opportunities, defining expected value through measures such as hours saved, new capabilities, or processes improved.

You Have

• 5–7+ years of Business Analyst experience, with a strong background in requirements gathering, process analysis, and stakeholder management.


• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.


• Experience supporting data, analytics, intelligent automation, AI, software, or application development initiatives.


• Experience working within Agile environments, including Scrum or Kanban, and managing backlogs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.


• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps or similar delivery tools.


• Familiarity with workflow automation technologies and an understanding of Agentic AI or machine learning concepts.


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, process mapping, documentation, and communication skills.


• The ability to influence stakeholders, facilitate cross-functional discussions, and communicate effectively with senior leadership.


• Experience with data governance, compliance, or regulatory reporting is an asset.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $95,400. - $ 135,425 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
