Job summary

CBS News 24/7 is looking for a seasoned Producer to shape the editorial vision of our live national newscast at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York. This role upholds our 24/7 commitment, delivering urgent breaking news, high-impact storytelling, and on-the-ground reporting.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-moving environment, leads in the control room, collaborates with editors and reporters, and uses innovative tools to deepen context and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of broadcast or cable news experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong TV production background, including news judgment, rundown management.
  • Prior live control room experience, including serving as a Line Producer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, research, write, produce, and edit compelling news segments for a national audience.
  • Collaborate with national assignment editors, reporters, writers, and executive producers while making editorial and content decisions in accordance with CBS guidelines and standards.
  • Lead in the control room with calm, confidence, and adaptability, especially during breaking news and high-pressure moments.
  • Oversee editing, script writing and creation of news graphics.
  • Time programs and segments with a good sense of pacing, power and urgency.
  • Uphold impeccable grammar, spelling, and attention to detail in all content produced while ensuring active, conversational style writing.
  • Exhibit strong editorial judgment, effective communication, and critical thinking skills.

Overview

CBS News 24/7, the network’s flagship national streaming news service, is looking for a seasoned Producer to help shape the editorial vision of our live national newscast. This role is central to upholding our 24/7 commitment — delivering urgent breaking news, high impact storytelling, on the ground reporting, and a transparent look at how the news comes together. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-moving environment and embraces innovative tools that deepen context, clarity, and accuracy for our audience. This position will be covered under the WGAE streaming agreement and is based at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York. The shift for this role is Monday through Friday, 3 am - 11 am ET.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to
  • Develop, research, write, produce, and edit compelling news segments for a national audience.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of broadcast or cable news experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Well-developed journalism foundation and proven television production background, including news judgment, rundown management, and concise broadcast writing.
  • Prior live control room experience, including serving as a Line Producer.

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $102,035.00 - 102,035.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
