The role also participates in vulnerability management, security monitoring and incident response, using disciplined documentation, change control and escalation practices.

Success requires a service-oriented mindset, strong infrastructure fundamentals, the ability to work independently at remote sites, and consistent coordination with Field Operations, IT teams, vendors and leadership. Work must be performed in alignment with company safety requirements, cybersecurity standards and established IT procedures.

Responsibilities:
Field Operations & Site Technology Support
  • Provide hands-on support at field offices and operational locations for laptops, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, conference room technology and other approved business systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve technology issues affecting field personnel, including endpoint performance, access, communications and site connectivity; coordinate escalation when specialized support is required.
  • Install, configure, replace and validate field technology in coordination with Operations, Facilities, vendors and other IT teams.
  • Maintain site technology standards, equipment records, network diagrams and support documentation for assigned locations.
  • Plan field work to minimize operational disruption and comply with site access, safety, change-management and cybersecurity requirements.
Service Desk, Endpoint & User Support
  • Receive, prioritize and resolve support requests through the IT support line and ticketing system, maintaining clear ownership, timely follow-up and accurate resolution notes.
  • Provide onboarding and offboarding support, including deployment of laptops, phones and peripherals, access provisioning and orientation to essential systems and tools.
  • Administer approved access, security group memberships and permissions in accordance with established procedures and least-privilege principles.
  • Package or coordinate deployment of approved applications and maintain hardware, software, cellular-plan and licensing inventories.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for complex end-user and field support issues and share troubleshooting guidance with other support personnel.
  • Administer and troubleshoot infrastructure services across Windows and Linux systems, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, virtualization, storage, backup and endpoint platforms.
  • Support LAN/WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPN, wireless, SD-WAN and connectivity between field, corporate and cloud environments.
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 and Azure administration, including identity, access, monitoring, security controls and cloud infrastructure components.
  • Monitor service health, capacity, configuration and backup status; perform maintenance and remediation under approved change procedures.
  • Coordinate with telecommunications and technology vendors to restore service, replace equipment and track issues through completion.
Cybersecurity & Risk Reduction
  • Monitor SIEM, endpoint security and other security platforms; triage alerts, document findings and escalating suspected incidents according to the incident response process.
  • Use vulnerability management systems to identify, prioritize and support remediation across endpoints, servers, network devices, cloud services, IoT and other approved enterprise assets.
  • Assist with incident containment, recovery, evidence preservation and lessons-learned documentation under the direction of designated incident leads.
  • Apply security baselines, patching, hardening, access controls and segmentation standards while balancing availability needs of field operations.
  • Help communicate cybersecurity policies and practical security guidance to technical and non-technical employees.
  • Maintain accurate tickets, configuration records, operating procedures, network diagrams, asset inventories, incident records and remediation evidence.
  • Partner with Field Operations, corporate users, cross-functional IT teams and vendors to improve service reliability and reduce repeat incidents.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization and proactive monitoring using PowerShell, reporting tools and other approved platforms.
  • Participate in projects, maintenance windows, technology refreshes and disaster recovery or continuity activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT support, infrastructure operations, systems administration, network support, cybersecurity operations or a comparable technical role.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 11 and Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID, endpoint management and enterprise support practices.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, switching, VLANs, VPN, wireless and common troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, identity, connectivity and peripheral issues in a networked environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently at remote locations and maintain ownership through resolution.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical and security concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to travel regularly to company operational locations and provide occasional after-hours support for incidents, maintenance and operational needs.
  • Ability to meet site-specific access and safety requirements applicable to assigned field locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or a related field.
  • Experience supporting technology in oil and gas, energy, industrial, remote-site or other operational environments.
