Job summary

City of New York is seeking a Community Associate for the NYC Parks Environment and Planning division. The role supports restoration projects across multiple park spaces and coordinates logistics, purchasing, and community engagement in Queens and surrounding boroughs.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience and emphasizes strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent with three years of related community work.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide logistical and field support for restoration and management of parkland, supporting ecologists and gardeners.
  • Coordinate purchasing and receiving of supplies, including budget tracking and vendor interaction.
  • Assist in scheduling interviews, meetings, and conference calls.
  • Coordinate partner projects with non-profit organizations and city divisions.
  • Assist in ecological and environmental monitoring to support compliance and restoration.
  • Assist in community engagement including public meetings and stewardship events.
  • Prepare materials for permit applications and environmental review documents.
  • Use Microsoft Office and ArcGIS to input, map, and visualize data.
  • Prepare maps, technical reports, and presentations for managers and the public.
