Job summary

Brown University seeks a Major Gifts Officer to manage a portfolio of 150–175 major gift prospects and donors and to cultivate gifts ranging from $100,000 to $3,000,000. The officer will raise a minimum of $2M and, over time, upwards of $4M annually within a nationwide geography.

This role requires collaboration across fundraising programs and regular engagement with alumni, parents, and friends. The position may be located in Providence, RI or California near a major metropolitan area, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; 5+ years of relevant experience in development, sales or related field.
• Experience in higher education or nonprofit settings preferred; fundraising and volunteer management knowledge.
• Ability to solicit and close gifts at the $100,000+ level; strong communication and relational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 150–175 major gift prospects and donors.
• Develop solicitation strategies and close major gifts aligned with campaigns and priorities.
• Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers and fundraising managers across programs; plan regional events and staff development visits.
• Record activities, proposals, and strategic plans in the donor database; travel across the United States as needed.
• Meet aggressive fundraising goals and work in hybrid/remote environments; occasional evenings and weekends.
