Job summary

Arup is seeking a Life Sciences Leader to establish and grow a West Coast Science hub, focusing on San Francisco and Los Angeles. You will lead the design of medium to large Life Sciences projects and drive client relationships while shaping strategy with regional leadership.

You will mentor teams, integrate sustainable design, and partner with BD to expand opportunities across the West Coast. This is a senior leadership role with significant regional impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
• Valid California Professional Engineer license.
• 15+ years of mechanical/electrical design for built environments.
• 10+ years delivering Life Sciences projects as Engineer of Record.
• Experience leading project teams and mentoring engineers.
• Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules and resources.
• Experience growing a new office and contributing to proposals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and grow Arup’s Life Sciences business across the West Coast.
• Lead mechanical and electrical design for Life Sciences labs, R&D facilities.
• Manage multiple projects with planning, resourcing, scheduling and budgeting.
• Represent Arup at industry events as a speaker and leader.
• Mentor project teams and drive technical excellence.
• Integrate sustainable design principles into projects.
• Negotiate contracts and engagement terms to optimize delivery.
• Collaborate with West Coast leadership and BD to grow the pipeline.
