Job summary

Starr Companies in the Los Angeles office is seeking an Underwriter for the Construction team. This dual role will oversee the development and servicing of the primary construction portfolio on the West Coast with a focus on Southern California.

Responsibilities include soliciting submissions, underwriting analysis, preparing and issuing indications/quotations/binders, mentoring and training staff, and tracking the new business pipeline.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of construction underwriting experience
• Experience with loss‑sensitive programs
• Existing relationships with construction brokers
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Technical casualty underwriting capabilities
• Proven sales and business development skills
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
