Job summary

Starr, a global leader in commercial insurance, is seeking an Underwriter to develop and service an excess construction portfolio. The role covers submissions, underwriting analysis, indications, quotations, binders, and pipeline tracking in the California market.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of underwriting experience in mid-to-large construction accounts, strong broker relationships, and solid technical casualty underwriting skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of underwriting experience in mid-to-large construction excess accounts
• Strong relationships with construction brokers
• Solid technical casualty underwriting capabilities
• Proven sales and business development skills

Responsibilities

• Develop, oversee and underwrite the construction excess business
• Achieve budgeted premium goals
• Develop retail and wholesale brokerage relationships
• Manage production and excess construction staff in the region
