Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks an Engineer at Principal or Senior level to lead Metro District projects in Hennepin County. The role serves as the primary contact with local governments and partners, balancing external and internal priorities to align with department goals and local priorities.

Responsibilities include managing project scopes, schedules, and consultants; negotiating governmental agreements; and directing public engagement to inform and involve stakeholders

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of post-registration engineering experience (Engineer Senior level or equivalent) that demonstrates knowledge of pre-design, final design, planning, traffic, state aid and construction.
• Experience in project management to prioritize and schedule multiple projects to meet letting schedules and manage budgets and staff.
• Knowledge of MnDOT standards and applicable laws, regulations, policies and codes as they relate to transportation system planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation.

Responsibilities

• Provide inception to completion project management for Metro District and locally led projects in Hennepin County, including defining scope, planning, scheduling, directing the project team and coordinating consulting contracts.
• Lead, coordinate, and negotiate agreements with various units of government to advance projects.
• Provide leadership in planning efforts to address infrastructure needs and opportunities.
• Plan and conduct public engagement activities with stakeholders and the public.
