Job summary

Iron County School District’s South Elementary in Cedar City, UT is seeking a Part Time Wellness Room Monitor Paraprofessional and Lunch Monitor to support students 22.5 hours per week. The position reports to the school principal and works with the Special Education Educator, Counselor, or LCSW to help students reset, calm down, and refocus.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in a school environment.
• Ability to monitor and support students in a wellness room.
• Familiarity with basic computer systems and email.

Responsibilities

• Monitors students that choose to enter the Wellness Room for support and help them to reset and return to class.
• Intake students as they come into the room and triage the situation to get additional support for the student if needed.
• Teach self regulation skills to students.
• Help students to reset and return to the classroom in order to continue learning.
• Participates in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for Wellness room management.
• Help students and school staff understand the procedures of the Wellness room.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Wellness Room and all materials within the room.
• Assist in the purchase and replacement of materials as needed.
• Maintain appropriate records using Educators Handbook and other school-based record keeping requirements.
• Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
• Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required.
• Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
• Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google docs and check email frequently. Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed. Please see the full job description at the link HERE
