Job summary

Charles E. Lakin YMCA in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a Wellness Manager to lead health and fitness programs, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality experiences for members. This part-time role focuses on education, safe facilities, and achieving wellness goals.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• At least 1 year supervisory experience in customer service and/or fitness training.
• Demonstrated success leading health & wellness-focused or equivalent team.
• Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours.
• Complete before first shift: YMCA cause & culture training; program-specific training; all required abuse prevention training.
• Complete within 30 days of hire: BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
• Complete within 90 days of hire & maintained consistently: YMCA program-specific certifications and current nationally recognized Group Exercise and/or Personal Training Certification
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
• Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
• Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.
• Screen, train, and enforce abuse prevention policies for staff.
• Promote a reporting culture, address violations, and maintain confidentiality.
• Ensure compliance with mandated reporting and communicate zero tolerance to all staff.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and YMCA objectives.
• Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers; evaluates staff.
• Develops, models and integrates systems and practices to retain members.
• Develops and implements new program activities per plans.
• Manages program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
• Monitors payroll transactions for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensures staff certifications are current and documented.
• Assists in marketing and registrations for programs.
• Compiles program statistics and monitors enrollment.
• Supports YMCA fundraising activities and events.
• Participates in meetings and trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
