Wellness Program Manager

Salary Range: $34.00 To $40.00 Hourly

Position Summary

The Health and Social Wellness Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs that promote physical health, mental well-being, social connectedness, and overall quality of life for community members, clients, or employees. This position provides leadership in wellness initiatives, health education, social services coordination, community outreach, and program evaluation to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and culturally responsive services.

The Health and Social Wellness Manager works collaboratively with internal departments, healthcare providers, community partners, and stakeholders to address health disparities, improve wellness outcomes, and strengthen community engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Management
  • Develop, implement, and manage health and social wellness programs and services.
  • Assess community or organizational wellness needs and identify service gaps.
  • Establish program goals, objectives, performance measures, and outcomes.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and funding requirements.
Health Promotion and Education
  • Design and coordinate health education workshops, wellness campaigns, and prevention initiatives.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles through nutrition, exercise, disease prevention, and mental health awareness activities.
  • Develop educational materials and wellness resources for participants.
  • Facilitate support groups and wellness-focused events.
Social Services Coordination
  • Coordinate access to health, behavioral health, housing, employment, transportation, and social service resources.
  • Assist participants in navigating available services and benefits.
  • Establish referral networks with community organizations and service providers.
  • Advocate for individuals and families to ensure equitable access to services.
Community Engagement and Outreach
  • Build strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Conduct outreach activities to increase program participation and awareness.
  • Facilitate community meetings and gather feedback to improve services.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and community events.
Staff Leadership and Supervision
  • Supervise wellness coordinators, case managers, health educators, or other assigned staff.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and culturally responsive work environment.
  • Support staff development and professional growth opportunities.
Data Management and Reporting
  • Collect, analyze, and report program data and outcomes.
  • Prepare reports for leadership, grantors, funding agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Utilize data to support continuous quality improvement efforts.
Budget and Grant Management
  • Assist with budget development and financial oversight of wellness programs.
  • Monitor program expenditures and resource allocation.
  • Support grant writing, funding applications, and reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for additional funding and program sustainability.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Human Services, Health Administration, Psychology, Community Health, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in health promotion, social services, wellness program management, or community health.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing programs preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse and underserved populations highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of health promotion, behavioral health, social services, and community wellness practices.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to health and social service programs.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to establish collaborative partnerships and work effectively with diverse communities.
  • Experience with data collection, program evaluation, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Public Health (CPH), Health Education (CHES), Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience with grant-funded programs.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and culturally responsive service delivery.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Combination of office, community, and field-based work.
  • Occasional evening and weekend activities may be required.
  • Local travel for meetings, outreach events, and community engagement activities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds when necessary.
