Job summary

Metuchen-Edison YMCA in Metuchen, NJ is seeking a Wellness Director to oversee all Wellness and Fitness operations for all ages. You will manage staff, programs, and budgets while ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include planning classes, directing staff, coordinating facility usage, and engaging in YMCA events. Regular full-time role with salary range $62,000–$65,000 annually.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in related field is preferred or equivalent education and work experience.
• Program management experience.
• Budget development and management experience.
• Previous supervisory experience with the ability to meet deadline.
• Ability to interact with diverse populations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn other software used by the Association.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety guidelines are strictly adhered to.
• Plan and direct wellness and fitness areas for all ages.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule and develop staff.
• Establish classes, programs and activities to meet community needs.
• Develop and manage the department budget with the Director for Branch.
• Assess program impact using current data.
• Ensure safety and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Coordinate facility usage with branch staff.
• Payroll, hiring packets, incident reports, brochures and communications.
• Engage as a leader in YMCA staff teams.
• Support YMCA events such as 5K Walk, Healthy Kids Day, etc.
• Maintain clean and safe Wellness center; OSHA compliance.
• Evaluate equipment and schedule repairs.
• Conduct monthly staff meetings including emergency drills.
• Complete admin tasks and certifications records.
• Emulate the four core values daily.
• All other duties as assigned.
