Job summary

Ada County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Wellness Coordinator (civilian) to create, manage, and grow ACSO’s first employee wellness program, ensuring it remains on the cutting edge of law enforcement wellness. The coordinator will design the program framework, oversee peer wellness efforts, manage the wellness app, and coordinate health screenings and resources for ACSO employees and their families.

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human behavior or related field preferred.

  • Designs and builds the ACSO employee wellness program from the ground up, including vision, strategies, policies, and core services.
  • Collaborates with agency leadership, HR, external providers, and community stakeholders to expand wellness resources.
  • Develops, promotes, and facilitates wellness strategies focused on behavioral health, physical fitness, nutrition, financial wellness, and family support.
  • Oversees the wellness app and coordinates health screenings and resources.

The Wellness Coordinator is a civilian position appointed by the Sheriff and reporting to the Chief Deputy. This role is responsible for creating, managing, and growing ACSO’s first employee wellness program, and ensuring it remains on the cutting edge of law enforcement wellness. The coordinator will design the program framework, oversee peer wellness efforts, manage the wellness app, coordinate health screenings and resources, and collaborate with internal and external partners to support the overall well-being of ACSO employees and their families.

  • Researches and evaluates best practices in law enforcement wellness programming to ensure ACSO remains on the cutting edge of employee wellness;
  • Designs and builds the ACSO employee wellness program from the ground up, including vision, strategies, policies, and core services for both commissioned and professional staff;
  • Establishes systems, processes, and resources needed for program implementation, growth, and long-term sustainability;
  • Creates, manages, and continuously updates the ACSO wellness app (part of the Sheriff’s Office app) as the central hub for program content, resources, and engagement;
  • Participates with the agency’s peer support team and assists the leadership team with coordination, training, meetings and debriefs;
  • Develops, promotes, and facilitates wellness strategies focused on behavioral health, physical fitness, nutrition, financial wellness, and spouse/family support;
  • Coordinates employee mandatory health screenings and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) utilization, ensuring compliance and accessibility;
  • Provides informal triage assessments and referrals when employees seek assistance, while maintaining referral networks for professional clinical services;
  • Builds and maintains a directory of culturally competent providers experienced in working with law enforcement personnel and families;
  • Designs and delivers training and educational programs on wellness-related topics; coordinates with internal subject matter experts (e.g., finance officer, fitness staff) and external partners as needed;
  • Collaborates with agency leadership, county HR, external providers, and community stakeholders to expand and enhance available wellness resources;
  • Works with the Data Analytics Team to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to evaluate program utilization, effectiveness, and outcomes;
  • Identifies barriers to participation or stigma related to wellness and implements strategies to reduce those barriers;
  • Promotes wellness programming agency-wide to increase awareness, visibility, and participation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human behavior a related field from an accredited college or university;
  • Knowledge of holistic wellness program design and delivery, including behavioral health, physical fitness, financial wellness, and family support;
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization;
  • Strong skills in program development, project management, and long-term program growth;
  • Demonstrated ability to research, evaluate, and apply best practices in wellness programming;
  • Ability to identify and establish partnerships with culturally competent providers and organizations that specialize in serving law enforcement personnel and families;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate work effectively using performance metrics and outcomes;
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, uphold confidentiality, and adhere to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office Code of Ethics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human behavior or a related field from an accredited college or university;
  • Hold a current Idaho license as one of the following:
    • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Experience working within law enforcement or with law enforcement employees.
Other Requirements:
  • Must appear before an oral board and successfully complete a polygraph examination, credit check, and background investigation prior to hire;
  • This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore, the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
  • May be required to lift to 20 lbs.;
  • Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
