Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks a Wire Room Attendant to keep welding supplies flowing to shipyard departments on schedule and to ensure accuracy in inventory and issue processes.

You will operate mainframe systems, manage weld wire receipt, storage and requisitions, and interface with planning, purchasing, and QA teams. A strong safety mindset and the ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or 2+ years of related technical experience.
• 5+ years of manufacturing and/or production experience.
• Preferred: Welding or wire room experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate personnel and mainframe computer systems.
• Administer weld wire receipt, storage, handling and requisitions.
• Issue tools, PPE, and crib items.
• Participate in company and customer audits.
• Work overtime to support shipyard construction schedules.
• Must obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance.
• Schedule, track, and prioritize weld consumables and wire room materials.
