Job summary

Arcosa Wind Towers, Inc. is seeking a Weld Technician in Newton, IA to support welding operations using gages and jigs, ensuring safety and quality across heavy weld and fabrication activities.

The role requires training weld operators, reading welding procedure specs, and coordinating with management to resolve welding issues while maintaining documentation and adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 3 years of production welding experience.
• Experience with GMAW, FCAW, GTAW (Tulsa only), SAW.
• Must pass welding qualification within 4 weeks.
• 2 years experience in training production welding operators.
• Understanding of NDT: VT, UT, MT, PT.
• Stand and perform duties in a plant environment.
• AWS/ASME code welding knowledge (Tulsa only) preferred.
• Robotic or hard automation welding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safe work practices for heavy weld, assembly and paint fabrication.
• Audit welding operators and safety practices for welding.
• Troubleshoot welding processes and equipment.
• Identify improvements and test new welding processes.
• Coordinate with plant management on welding-related issues.
• Read Weld Procedure Specifications and customer welding requirements.
• Assess welds to determine training needs.
• Assist with training new welders.
• Maintain required documentation and records.
• Verify welding power supply energy delivery and calibration.
• Follow safety rules and participate in safety initiatives.
