Job summary

Arcosa Wind Towers, Inc is seeking a Weld Technician in Newton, IA to support safety and welding operations. You will lay out pieces from blueprints, use various welding processes, and inspect completed work for conformance.

You may also perform minor equipment maintenance and assist in training welders. The role emphasizes safety, writing and maintaining records, and collaborating with plant management to improve welding performance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 3 years of production welding experience.
• Ability to pass welding qualifications for listed processes within 4 weeks.
• 2 years of training experience for production weld operators.
• Knowledge of NDT processes VT/UT/MT/PT.
• Able to follow supervisor direction with minimal oversight.
• Able to stand, bend, lift, and climb as required.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safe work practices for heavy welds and fabrication.
• Audit welding operators and assess safety best practices.
• Troubleshoot welding processes and equipment issues.
• Identify areas for process improvement and test new welding methods.
• Collaborate with plant management to address welding issues.
• Read Weld Procedure Specifications and customer requirements.
• Visually assess welds to determine training needs.
• Assist in training new welders.
• Complete required documentation and records.
• Verify welding power supply energy delivery and calibration.
• Follow safety rules and participate in safety initiatives.
• Possible involvement in safety committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
