Job summary

Trystar Inc in Faribault, MN is seeking a Welder I to perform TIG and MIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel components. The role includes weld preparation, material inspection, and maintaining production records in Epicor, with training responsibilities for junior welders.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years welding experience, AWS/ASME certification, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Advanced proficiency in TIG and MIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
Ability to read, interpret, and train welders on welding symbols, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
Familiarity with different grades and types of aluminum and their welding requirements.
High understanding of shop safety procedures and PPE usage.
Able to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Five plus years of welding experience in manufacturing, structural or pipefitting environments.
AWS/ASME certification or equivalent program.
Weld components in flat, vertical and overhead positions.
Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
Weld small and large components such as mild steel tubing, aluminum, and stainless steel.
Must be able to read, write and comprehend plant directives in English.

Responsibilities

TIG/MIG Welding: Perform TIG and MIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless‑steel materials.
Weld Preparation: Clean and prepare aluminum surfaces for welding.
Material Inspection: Verify integrity of materials before welding.
Welding Parameters: Set up welding equipment and select torch, gas flow, amperage.
Weld Quality Control: Inspect finished welds for defects using visual inspection and non‑destructive testing as required.
Welding Joints: Work with butt, lap, and fillet weld configurations.
Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines and regulations.
Material Handling: Safely move aluminum materials and welded components.
Training: Assist in training Welder I and Welder II employees.
Production Monitoring: Monitor process, daily reports, tally sheets, scrap reports, and Epicor.
Documentation: Record production data in Epicor and maintain records.
Collaboration: Work with supervisors, fabricators, and quality control personnel.
Process Improvement: Seek opportunities to improve machining processes and efficiency.
Read, comprehend SOPs and operate equipment as needed.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and service welding equipment.
Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
