Description

INTRODUCTION: This position reports to the Industrial Engineer. It is solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties and has authority delegated commensurate with responsibilities.

WELDING TECHNICIAN: Performs detailed phases of production and preventative maintenance work in the Welding Department. Responsible for duties associated with all areas of production and part quality.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Include, but are not limited to:

  1. Modify existing weld programs for new and existing weld cells.
  2. Maintain existing automation equipment and end-of-arm tooling.
  3. Support production through troubleshooting.
  4. Perform daily and monthly maintenance, including record-keeping and operation of all welding equipment.
  5. Perform basic troubleshooting.
  6. Document preventative maintenance.
  7. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.
  8. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, regarding machinery, downtime, or other issues affecting production.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned that are relevant to this position.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in robotic welding and automation.
  • Basic welding knowledge.
  • Entry-level mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Minimum 1 year of robot and welding experience.
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, twist, kneel, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Basic tool room skills.
  • Experience with maintenance software systems.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, managing multiple projects.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, with excellent attendance.
  • Proficient in using handheld tools and measuring devices safely and correctly.
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and communication skills as per company standards.
  • Ability to learn about company products and adhere to quality, environmental, and safety policies.
  • Understanding of JOST’s Basic Processes and industry-standard welding processes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, see, hear, use hands, reach, stoop, bend, twist, and lift objects weighing between 5 and 51 pounds, with or without assistance.

Employees will receive written instructions and training. Failure to perform duties as instructed may result in disciplinary action, including termination.
