Job summary

Vermeer Welder I on site in Freeman, SD is responsible for producing high-quality equipment through welding in various positions, following Vermeer Welding Standards and contributing to safety and continuous improvement.

You will read blueprints, set up components, operate an oxyfuel torch, and use digital drawings. Training includes AWS GMAW-P certification and the ability to learn FCAW for additional positions.

Qualifications

• Entry-level welding experience or formal training preferred.
• Weld training program with AWS GMAW-P qualification to D14.0 in the flat (1G-UL) position.
• Read blueprints and welding symbols; apply decimal-based measurements.
• Access digital work instructions and drawings via computer systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Complete weldments in various positions according to blueprints and welding procedures.
• Prepare, position, and align components using fixtures; bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts.
• Safely operate oxyfuel cutting torch and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructions.
• Access digital drawings and work instructions via computer systems.
• Identify welding defects and participate in root cause analysis.
• Support 5S and workplace organization to improve efficiency.
