Job summary

The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville, VA, seeks a Welding Technician to support the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program. This role collaborates with the Welding Instructor to deliver hands-on training that prepares students for careers in defense manufacturing.

Key duties include assisting with welding instruction, preparing materials and spaces, maintaining supplies, and promoting safety while fostering student success and teamwork across shifts

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current welding experience.
• Experience with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW.
• Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

• Support welding instruction in classroom and lab settings.
• Assist students during hands-on welding and fabrication activities.
• Prepare training materials, tools, equipment, and workspace for instruction.
• Order and maintain welding supplies and materials for operations.
• Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and shop organization.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures and industry best practices.
• Support student success through engagement and technical assistance.
• Assist with program activities and events as assigned.
