Job summary

AUTOKINITON in Chicago, IL is hiring a Welding Engineer to specify welding equipment, consumables and systems for welding processes. You will design and test welding methods and materials, and assist QA to resolve welding issues with the production team.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in weld/robotics engineering, 3+ years of welding experience, MIG/robotic welding knowledge, AutoCAD familiarity and strong teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in weld/robotics engineering or equivalent; CWI/CWE preferred.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on welding experience, including manual and automated processes.
• Proficiency with MIG welding and robotic welding programming.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and weld drawings; electrical/controls schematics knowledge.
• Knowledge of NEC/OSHA safety and welding safety practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Specify welding equipment, consumables, systems and components for welding processes.
• Recommend and develop preventative maintenance procedures for welding equipment and robotics.
• Design, develop and test welding methods, materials and processes.
• Assist QA in maintaining weld integrity; resolve welding issues with manufacturing teams.
• Participate in root cause analysis and 8D problem-solving activities.
