Job summary

VDL Industries Gainesville is seeking a Production Supervisor - Welding to lead daily welding operations and ensure quality, safety, and on-time customer delivery. The role supervises welders, ensures adherence to WPS and drawings, and drives continuous improvement across safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

• Minimum five (5) years of welding and fabrication manufacturing experience.
• Associate's degree in Welding Technology, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication and structural weldments.
• Experience supervising employees in welding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, or related manufacturing operations.
• Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments required.
• Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Supervise MIG, TIG, and structural welding operations.
• Coordinate labor assignments to meet production schedules and capacity requirements.
• Ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), work instructions, and customer requirements.
• Monitor weld quality and collaborate with Quality and Engineering on defect reduction initiatives.
• Support welder qualification, training, and certification activities.
• Drive productivity improvements, cycle-time reductions, and throughput enhancements.
• Investigate welding nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure welding consumables, fixtures, tooling, and equipment are properly maintained and available.
• Support new product introductions, prototype builds, and production readiness reviews.
• Promote safe welding practices and compliance with all environmental and safety requirements.

This role supervises welders and welding support personnel, ensures compliance with welding procedures and customer specifications, and drives continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise MIG, TIG, and structural welding operations.
• Coordinate labor assignments to meet production schedules and capacity requirements.
• Ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), work instructions, and customer requirements.

Education and Experience

• Associate's degree in Welding Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
