SMS group is seeking a Welding Lathe Operator to join our second shift in Taylor, MI. The role involves setting up and operating welding lathes, performing Arc, MIG and TIG welding, and burning tasks on steel components.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and be able to work overtime and night shifts. Employment is contingent upon drug screen and background checks; we offer competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate welding lathes to weld steel or stainless steel on rolls, journals, etc.
• Monitor temperature of rolls and adjust heat if required.
• Perform arc welding or burning as required.
• Place roll in furnace, start and operate furnace and identify roll on heat chart.
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment.
• Keep work area, tools and equipment clean and orderly.
• Be a safety minded worker who is drug free, dependable, and maintain excellent attendance.
