Job summary

Del Mar College is seeking a TERM INSTRUCTOR - WELDING to teach five courses per regular semester, including online or dual-credit offerings. The instructor will cover welding processes with emphasis on GTAW, read blueprints, and fabricate structures and pipes.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt teaching styles for diverse learners and maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Associate in Applied Science in Welding Applied Technology and five (5) years of documented work experience in the Welding field.
• Five (5) years of welding experience in GTAW / SMAW Pipe and Plate; five (5) years in GMAW / FCAW Pipe and Plate.
• Eight (8) or more years of welding experience accepted as alternative.
• Knowledge of blueprints, layout, and fabrication of structural and pipe.
• Ability to plan instruction based on approved syllabus/outline.
• Proficiency with computers and online teaching tools available.

Responsibilities

• Teach five courses per regular semester, possibly online or dual-credit classes.
• Develop and use varied teaching methods to accommodate diverse learners.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
• Evaluate student progress and provide feedback within grading policies.
• Engage in departmental and college service activities.
