Job summary

The State of Colorado is seeking an entry-level welding instructor to deliver career and technical welding instruction to inmate students at Buena Vista. The role follows CCCS guidelines and licensing requirements, delivering hands-on training and assessments to support skill development and certification progress.

You will maintain records, ensure security of tools, and collaborate with fellow teachers to promote safety, discipline, and successful reintegration into society through practical

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in welding with 4,000 hours of verified experience in welding within seven years.
• Substitution allowed with industry licenses/certifications and required hours.
• Experience teaching or training adults in a welding context.
• Commitment to safety, security, and inmate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Teaches and mentors inmate students in welding, promoting occupational and academic skills.
• Determines educational needs and develops short- and long-term goals.
• Plans course content and teaching strategies; uses competency-based materials.
• Provides hands-on training and demonstrates welding techniques and procedures.
• Administers assessments to measure progress and program effectiveness.
• Maintains security, inventory, and safe handling of tools and materials.
• Prepares reports and records of grades, attendance, and training activity.
• Collaborates with colleagues to improve program delivery and outcomes.
