Job summary

State of Colorado is seeking an entry‑level culinary instructor at Limon Correctional Facility to deliver career and technical culinary education within a correctional setting. You will supervise apprentices, mentor inmate students, and develop lesson content aligned with CCCS standards.

The role emphasizes hands‑on training, classroom instruction and rigorous safety, with requirements to obtain teaching credentials within specified timelines and to document student progress.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in a culinary industry or related field
• Substitution options include a Bachelor's Degree in a culinary field with 2,000 hours of verified experience
• Must have completed 4,000 hours of verifiable occupational experience in a culinary industry within the last seven years
• College transcripts must be attached to the application
• Must obtain CCCS credential within six months and a Colorado Community College Professional Teacher Credential within three years

Responsibilities

• Supervise Culinary Apprentices with the Apprenticeship Coordinator
• Teach and mentor inmate students individually or in groups
• Plan course content and develop instructional methods
• Provide hands-on training and demonstrations of culinary skills
• Assess student progress with oral/written/performance evaluations
• Maintain safety and security of tools, equipment and materials
• Document student achievements and training hours
• Participate in ongoing professional development
