Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to perform and sign weld inspections, review WPS/PQRs, witness welder qualification tests, and direct NDT. You will write reports for engineers and building officials, and inspect fabrication shops and field erection with bolting considerations.

Required AWS CWI with 2+ years' experience; ICC structural steel and bolting certification is a strong plus. Travel to project sites and Texas assignments may be involved.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI required to inspect to multiple codes (D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, API 1104)
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification is a strong plus
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it for retest closure

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority to governing code
• Review WPS, PQR and welder qualification records
• Witness welder qualification tests
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing (NDT)
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for engineer of record and building official
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection, including high-strength bolting and base plate grouting when certified
