Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to oversee welding inspections on structural steel, pipe, and fabrications, with authority to accept or reject per the applicable codes. The role includes witnessing tests, reviewing WPS/PQR, and directing NDT activities.

The ideal candidate will hold an AWS CWI with 2+ years of inspection experience, plus ICC steel/bolting certification preferred. Travel for project work is possible as part of the assignment.

Qualifications

Must hold AWS CWI and have 2+ years inspecting under it.
Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
ICC certifications preferred; sponsorship possible if not held.
Able to defend a rejection and document it for retest and closure.

Responsibilities

Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
Witness welder qualification tests.
Direct and interpret nondestructive testing.
Disposition indications and write repair instructions.
Inspect fabrication shops and field erection.
Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports.
