Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to provide oversight of welds in fabrication shops and on-site erections. You will approve or reject welds per contract codes, review WPS/PQR, witness qualification tests, and direct NDT activities.

Strong reporting skills and adherence to IBC/SI codes are essential. Eligible candidates have an AWS CWI with 2+ years of field inspection experience, and may hold ICC steel/bolting certification.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years of inspection experience.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting inspector certification preferred (sponsored).

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder performance qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing.
• Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection, including high-strength bolting and base plate grouting where certified.
