Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to oversee acceptance/rejection of welds on structural steel, pipe, and fabrications, inspecting to AWS and project-specific codes. You will witness weld tests, review WPS/PQR, and guide NDT and report development relied upon by engineers and building officials.

Your week spans fabrication shops and erection sites, performing visual inspections, reviewing documentation, and coordinating nonconformance reports.

Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with 2+ years inspecting
• Familiar with D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held)

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records
• Witness welder performance qualification tests
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing
• Disposition indications and write repair instructions
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection
• Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports
